In 1968 Charlton Heston was already an A List Actor with an Oscar, then Planet of the Apes came along, was a HUGH success, and helped kick off Heston's journey into the Sci-Fi genre. Between the inevitable sequel Beneath the Planet of the Apes (1970), and the dark classic Soylet Green (1973) was The Omega Man (1971)
