The early 80's was dominated by slahsers full of young unknown actors on the receiving end of a masked monster's weapon. Director John Irvin wen the the complete opposite direction. Opting instead for an old fashioned ghost story based on a novel by Peter Straub and lead by four Academy Award Winning legends.
