Hausu / House (1977) - Blu-ray - new - Criterion Collection

Leave it to Japanese filmmakers to take a simple premise, in this case a teenage school girl and her friends go her aunt's country home for a simple vacation only to find that it's haunted, and go in a completely different and crazy direction. 

Director Nobuhiko Ôbayashi wanted to make a horror film that would match the size and energy of Jaws. Instead he ended up with an insane fever dream and a genuine cult classic that preceded the "J Horror" wave that would arrive 20 years later.
