The Master of the Macabre (1947) by Russell Thorndike - book

Know for his Doctor Syn series Thorndike took a break and tried his hand at writing a horror novel. The premise, a traveling man taking refuge from a storm is invited into an old house where the host begins to tell him stories, inspired by the objects he collected, is one that we see today in Guillermo del Toro's Cabinet of Curiosities.
