A person interviewed for Severin's recent hours long documentary about the history of Folk Horror pointed to three films that kicked off this beloved sub genre that continues to dominate even today. These films were: The Blood on Satan's Claw (1971), The Wicker Man (1973), and Witchfinder General.
What makes Witchfinder stand out is that puts a mirror to up to those who claim to "stop evil", as supposed to those who embrace it. Not to mention that it stars Vincent Price in one the best performances of his career.
